Senior Tax Accountant

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing the organization’s tax compliance and reporting processes across multiple jurisdictions. This role plays a key part in ensuring federal, state, and local tax filings are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable regulations.

The position will support income tax, sales and use tax, and personal property tax reporting while also contributing to process improvements, system enhancements, and tax planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical tax expertise, analytical skills, and experience working within complex accounting systems.

• Manage all aspects of tax compliance reporting including preparation of reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Prepare S-Corporation and partnership tax returns
• Oversee the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
• Support the maintenance and configuration of the company’s tax accounting systems including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and CCH Sure Tax
• Perform book-to-tax reconciliations and maintain Schedule M adjustment tracking
• Support compliance efforts including exemption certificate management and documentation retention
• Assist with fixed asset depreciation, rental fleet reporting, and LIFO reporting
• Provide support for internal and external tax audits, including gathering required documentation for federal, state, and local authorities
• Manage and coordinate external audits related to federal and state tax matters
• Assist with quarterly income tax payment planning and tax forecasting
• Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and strengthen compliance procedures
• Support tax planning initiatives and provide guidance on miscellaneous tax matters
• Maintain awareness of changes in GAAP and tax regulations and communicate implications to stakeholders
• Manage workflow within the tax function and identify training and development opportunities
• Lead short-term and long-term projects from initiation through completion
• Communicate effectively across departments regarding tax-related projects and process improvements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of tax and accounting experience
• Strong understanding of tax compliance and reporting requirements
• Experience preparing corporate, partnership, and sales tax filings
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• CPA certification preferred
• Experience working with CCH Axcess Tax and Microsoft Dynamics 365
• Experience supporting tax audits and multi-state tax filings
• Knowledge of tax accounting systems and ERP environments
