Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit position, requiring strong PCU/Med Surg skills and 18 months of nursing experience.
Responsibilities

• Work on a mix acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with occasional Med Surg coverage

• Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, oncology, and flex acuity patients up to ICU level

• Patient ratios are 1:5

• Night shifts, typically 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week

• Every other weekend required

• No on-call responsibilities

• Floating required within hospital or to affiliated hospitals as needed

• Cerner EMR system is used and prior Cerner experience is required

• Private rooms with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoring

• Must be comfortable caring for high acuity patients including post-cardiac and thoracic surgery

• Will assist with specialized procedures and device management as needed

• Scrub color is black bottoms with a red top

• Free parking is available

• Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

• Not accepting local candidates for this position

• Up to 5 days of requested time off will be auto-approved

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Former perm or PRN employees must have at least 12 months gap before returning as a traveler
Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required; pending licenses accepted but must be in hand prior to start

• Minimum of 18 months recent PCU or Med Surg RN experience required

• Current AHA or RQI BLS and ACLS certifications required

• NIHSS certification preferred

• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required

• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, manage post-cardiac surgery patients, TAVI/TAVR, arterial lines, blood products, central/PICC line care, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips required

• Previous charge experience preferred

• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump, pre/post cardiac cath, sheath removal, LVAD/RVAD/Impella, or ventilator management preferred
