Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
The expressive therapist is responsible for the provision of treatment within the scope of their distinct discipline. This includes conducting assessments, reviewing treatment plans, and documentation of services provided. The therapist works, in group and individual formats, with patients of all ages experiencing varying psychiatric and behavioral health care needs. Expressive therapy sessions aim to promote healing, enrich patients’ lives, and address the assessed treatment needs.
Treatment needs include the development of healthy emotional outlets, communication skills, stress/anger management techniques, increased self-awareness, and more. Additionally, the expressive therapist provides safe materials and supplies for use on units during idle time to encourage the continuation of self-care post-discharge.
Master’s Degree in art therapy from an accredited school, Bachelors in recreational therapy, Bachelors in music therapy, or a master’s degree from an ADTA Approved Graduate Program.
ExperiencePreferred 1 year experience in healthcare setting.
Licensure- Registered Art Therapist (ATR)
- Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
- Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialists (CTRS)
- Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT)
Open to additional therapeutic disciplines
Additional RequirementsThorough knowledge of TJC, HCFA, OSHA regulations and state and federal regulatory standards. CPR certification.
