You will provide technical support for your assigned facilities. Responsibilities include identifying and resolving compliance issues, managing technical consultants, liaising with regulatory agencies, preparing and managing permits, and overseeing the technical aspects of construction activities, from RFP preparation through work certification.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar industry experience.

Develop a Comprehensive Understanding of the Site
  • Familiarize yourself with the site's physical features, such as stormwater and sanitary sewer lines, discharge points, underground storage tanks, zoning regulations, and other relevant details.
Understand Site Permits
  • Understand all site permits, including those for groundwater, surface water, solid waste, and air. Perform and coordinate compliance inspections and reporting as required.
Build Relationships with Regulatory Agencies
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies overseeing the site.
Monitor Facility Capacity
  • Keep the site manager updated on facility capacity, including air space and throughput, and report on significant engineering and environmental activities.
Identify and Resolve Environmental Issues
  • Identify environmental issues and work with the site manager and team to develop and implement solutions under the site manager’s guidance.
Manage Technical Contracts
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals as needed, evaluate bids, and manage technical contracts. Oversee contract administration, budget, and schedule for assigned activities.
Develop a Five-Year Schedule
  • Work with the site manager to create and maintain a five-year facility schedule outlining expansion, closure, construction projects, and key compliance initiatives.
Review Compliance Tracker Monthly
  • Review the compliance tracker at least monthly and develop action plans to meet deadlines for site management review.
  • Work with site management to ensure environmental submittals are timely, complete, and free of administrative violations.
Plan for Upcoming Fiscal Year Projects
  • Collaborate with the site manager to identify projects for the upcoming fiscal year. Prepare budget inputs for technical projects, including compliance monitoring and reporting, and review plans with the General Manager.
Conduct Regular Status Meetings for Smaller Sites
  • Hold monthly meetings with site managers of smaller sites, such as truck depots, via conference call or Microsoft Teams to review environmental and engineering issues.
Participate in Environmental Corrective Measures
  • Stay informed and actively participate in developing necessary environmental corrective measures, including those for groundwater, surface water, solid waste, and air quality.
Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
