Serve as online course consultant, information, and resource person for design and development of online courses across the University's system.
Duties include:
consult with staff on course design issues, identifying student learning outcomes, fostering active learning, selecting and implementing appropriate instructional technologies, and assessing student learning in online courses; collaborate with university leaders and key units to define priorities, strategies, quality standards, best practices, and training and documentation for online education; work with eDS Principal Instructional Designer and eDS Manager to develop documentation and online resources, support project planning and execution, and help establish and implement effective practices, procedures, and workflows;
represent University at local/state/national professional organizations and conferences; and, maintain currency with the leading edge of online course design and models of online course delivery.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or closely related technical field plus 2 years experience: serving as an instructor or co-instructor in higher ed, teaching adult learners in both face-to-face and online settings; and, consulting and training with university faculty in usability of instructional systems. Requires 1 year experience: researching the latest instructional and learning theories, applying them in their instructional design works, and implementing them in research designs and on behalf of participating faculty;
and, assessing and expertly evaluating the effects and efficacy of instructional design works using research methodologies common in education research and program evaluation research, and making recommendations. Requires experience: using in-depth knowledge of Canvas (LMS), CIDI Labs, Anthology Ally, HTML, Kaltura, and digital media and production tools to design and create online instructional content pedagogy for face-to-face, and online learning;
and, WebAIM accessibility standards. Requires domestic and international travel 10% of time. May permit telecommuting.
