Founded in 1995, the IU 21st Century Scholars Program (IUB
21CS
) is the oldest and largest student support services department in the State of Indiana. The IUB
21CS
provides financial and academic resources to support, retain, and graduate thousands of 21st Century Scholars recipients at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB). As an IU 21st Century Scholar, access is granted to the academic guidance, mentoring, and advocacy support needed to achieve full potential  IUB
21CS
is ranked number 1 in Indiana for the number of students receiving the ‘first‑dollar, full‑tuition, need‑based Indiana 21st Century Scholarship at any 4‑year public or private university.

The Part‑time Undergraduate Student STEM Program Assistant will carry out assigned tasks under direct supervision and independently.

Department‑Specific Responsibilities
  • Provides STEM programming assistance
  • Mentors and tutors students
  • Creates, collects, and transfers materials to the Canvas page
  • Assists with the process of development of documents
  • Assists with publicizing program events
  • Assists with the Program Newsletter
  • Arrives promptly for all scheduled hours of employment
  • Remains conscious of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policy and confidentiality
  • Provides tutoring/mentoring services to STEM students
  • Helps with other duties as assigned
EDUCATION Required
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Indiana University
  • Must be in good academic standing for the duration of employment
Preferred WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Experience mentoring or tutoring, event planning, marketing, and with STEM coursework
Skills Required
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and responsible
  • Ability to work in a close team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to work comfortably and communicate effectively with people from various backgrounds
  • Demonstrates knowledge of common office computer software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Flexible schedule with up to 29 hours per week across all campus positions.
