Overview

ADMISSIONS ORG (BL-ADMS-IUBLA). The Office of Admissions is a department under the Office of Enrollment Services and the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with the management of the student ambassador program, the tour guide and presentation team within the Office of Admissions.
  • Coordinates the team by scheduling tour guides for daily tours, presentations, and special events. Oversee the training, recruitment, and meetings for all guides.
  • Serves as liaison with Indiana University, student body, alumni and the Bloomington community.
  • Coordinates and conducts information sessions and campus tours for prospective students and their families; meet individually as needed.
  • Provides complex information on policies, procedures, exceptions, reasons for admission and denial of admission according to policy and procedure set forth by the Office of Admissions.
  • Students will interact with prospective college students and their families.
  • Counselor will interact with student ambassadors through daily campus tours and presentations.
  • Oversees tour transitions, find coverage for campus tours, panels, virtual sessions and special events.
  • Manages and publishes weekly schedules.
  • Monitors and approves student ambassador timesheets.
  • Interacts with prospective college students and their families leading information sessions, individual and group counseling appointments, both on and off-campus.
  • Presenting special group sessions for visiting high schools and community-based organizations.
  • Coordinates special projects within the Recruitment Team including collaboration with members of the Admissions Office and campus partners.
  • Conducts research on best practices and trends within the field of admission and/or college counseling to be presented to admission staff during staff meetings, retreats, and workshops.
Education

Required

  • Currently enrolled in or received admission as a Graduate Student at Indiana University Bloomington

  • Champion for IU and have a positive enthusiastic attitude toward their IU experience

This position regularly engages in campus tours, presentations, and events on and around the Bloomington campus.

Start and end date negotiable.

Occasional evening work may be required until 8:00 PM, some Saturday and/or Sunday work may be required with proper time for scheduling.

Bloomington, Indiana

15-20 hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Fall and Spring semesters.
