The Learning and Community Engagement Manager will oversee all aspects of the Learning and Community Engagement department, which include managing the forward-facing team members, curricula development, workshops, tours, outreach, relationship building, and project management. The Manager must be committed to the development and implementation of transformative, impactful learning environments that bridge informal learning spaces with classroom and cultural spaces. The person in this role must also be passionate about building a department that is grounded in community driven/community centered practices that are the foundation of developing programs, curricula, community spaces, and exhibition interactives which focuses on anthropology, archaeology/underwater archaeology, culture heritage, Indigenous Peoples, sovereignty, and holistic hospitality.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Manages all forward-facing team members.
- Provides strategic leadership and planning that establishes transformative education offerings and community engagement programs, which also support sustainable revenue building programs and inspires community connection and IU research.
- Manages the development of curricula (digital/physical). This includes auditing, evaluating, and revising current curricula, and developing new curricula to ensure that all education initiatives align with Museum's ethos, mission, values and the IU 2030 strategic plan.
- Develops an IUMAA tour program that includes pricing structure with holistic sliding scale, scheduling methods for students (K-12 and IU Students) and adult group tours, staffing, associated data tracking, evaluation rubric, and on-site check in process.
- Refines community engagement programs and outreach, and develops evaluation metrics and methods for community engagement offerings (tours, workshops, outreach tables, visitor services, programs, etc.)
- Works with IU faculty to increase capacity to engage and integrate the exhibitions, research collections, and community presence within their course curricula.
Builds relationships and facilitates outreach visits to schools, assisted living facilities, or other venues. - Collaborates with the curatorial and exhibitions and design team to develop dynamic and engaging exhibit interactives and interpretation that further enhances the visitors' experiences.
- Updates and maintains detailed and accessible records on the Museum's past and current education initiatives. This includes outreach, consultation, grant deliverables, data tracking, evaluation, and impact measurables (quantitative and qualitative).
- Collaborates with the Operations Manager, Director of Curatorial Affairs, and the Development and External Communications Manager to develop practices and policies that maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors, faculty, and staff.
- Participates in grant writing, implementation, and reporting processes as requested.
- Manages the education teaching collections, departmental supplies, and outreach promotional IUMAA give-away material.
- Serves on internal/external committees and working groups as assigned.
- Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
General Responsibilities
- Creates, implements, and evaluates experiences that connect audiences with the university, including localand rural outreach, campus, summer camps, home school events, teacher professional development workshops, and family programming.
- Supports the activities of other university departments with expertise on the audience desired. Maintains affiliations with colleagues within academic universities locally and nationally.
- Develops and conducts training of a pool of educators who can facilitate programs.
- Manages the daily operation of programs in accordance with the university's strategic plans. Develops and manages experience's budget(s). Oversees online content and technology.
- Provides process improvement suggestions to supervisor.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in education or related field
Bachelor's degree in education, museums studies, anthropology, and/or other humanities or related fields
WORK EXPERIENCE
2 years in education, fine arts, or other related field
5 years of experience in education, cultural heritage, non-profit, museum, or related sector
4 years experience working with and mentoring students and/or adults in an informal or classroom-based
learning environment
5 years experience managing and mentoring staff with diverse needs, experiences, and schedules
