Hybrid Category Specialist

Overview

Akkodis is seeking a Hybrid Category Specialist 1 for an entry level, 12-month contract job with a client in Bloomington, IN. You will support Global Directors and Category Managers for Indirect and Direct procurement to learn categories, suppliers, processes, and strategies.

Rate Range: $35.71/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Work with Management to learn categories, suppliers, processes, and strategies.
• Gather and analyze data on supplier capabilities, pricing, and market trends.
• Support Management with the creation of category strategies, including conducting market research to identify potential suppliers, and business review planning and scorecard data.
• Assist with the evaluation of Supplier quote packages and spend data.
• Support deployment of procurement technology.
• Analyze, pull data and reports with support of finance, and maintain category-specific reports and documentation.
• Support Procurement Leadership & Global Category Managers on daily and on demand projects and activities as required.
• May support management of applications, data, and systems for the direct & indirect team.
• Assist senior category specialists with contract administration tasks (as needed).
• Benchmark industry trends and best practices in procurement.

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• One to two years of experience required.
• CPSM or CPM or other certification preferred.
• MS Office proficiency required. MS Project or Planview experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Procurement or Supply Chain systems, tools, policies, and procedures.
• Both Direct and Indirect Procurement experience a plus.
• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization.
• Demonstrated understanding of cost reduction strategies and day to day Procurement operations.
• Understand basics of demand planning and inventory management.
• Proficient in communication skills.
• Must be willing to manage within an organization undergoing change.
• Requires occasional early morning or evening teleconferences.
• Works under general office environmental conditions, with sitting for extended periods.
• Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers and equipment.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation under national disability requirements.
• May travel domestically and internationally as needed.
