Temporary Part-Time Digital Accessibility Coordinator (up to 29 hours a week). This position is for the ITS Department to support the City’s digital content, websites, and software in meeting required accessibility standards and compliance expectations. The role includes reviewing, testing, coordinating remediation of web pages, documents, and digital tools, providing guidance to staff, responding to accessibility inquiries, monitoring third‑party vendor accessibility, and assisting with training, documentation, and related projects.
DutiesPrimary
- Review and assist City staff to update City website pages and PDFs to ensure they meet required accessibility standards.
- Provide accessibility help‑desk support by monitoring and responding to accessibility email inquiries, routing or escalating issues as needed, and tracking requests and resolutions.
- Ensure digital documents and online content meet accessibility requirements and correct issues as identified.
- Respond to accessibility questions and requests from staff and the public and ensure timely follow‑up and resolution.
- Conduct accessibility testing of websites, documents, and digital tools and document findings and needed updates.
- Monitor accessibility of third‑party software and coordinate with vendors to obtain and maintain required accessibility documentation.
- Serve as a resource to staff on accessibility standards, requirements, and best practices.
- Consult with departments to understand accessibility needs and provide guidance and recommendations.
- Develop and maintain accessibility guides, reference materials, and training resources for staff.
- Support accessibility training and awareness efforts across departments.
- Assist with accessibility tracking, reporting, procurement support, and other administrative duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Experience with standard office computer software, including Google Docs or similar tools, and ability to learn new computer systems and/or software.
- Prior experience with organizational, editing, and proofreading skills that required close attention to detail.
- Prior administrative, technical, or customer support experience in an office or government environment preferred.
- Prior experience of at least one year working with digital documents, websites, or content management systems, including knowledge of digital accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG, Section 508) and plain language writing.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment, with a flexible part‑time schedule Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. The incumbent must safeguard confidential and sensitive information at all times and exercise attention to detail and organizational skills.
- The incumbent must maintain frequent contact with department personnel, City employees, and members of the public for the purpose of giving and receiving assignments and information, and must have strong communication and teamwork skills.
