We are currently seeking a Business Development Specialist (BDS) for our Midwest Region who can provide a strong local presence for our agents and our policyholders. The selected candidate will be the central point of contact for our agency partners. Will also promote sales of various property and casualty products through the independent agency system and be responsible for the acquisition and retention of profitable accounts through sound underwriting principles reflective of company policy.

Candidate must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with our agency partners and be responsible for cultivating new agency relationships in the territory, while supporting Underwriting with account selection, and direct policyholder service. The BDS will work with their agents to set strategic goals through annual planning sessions. This position will be field-based located in Illinois, which requires travel throughout the territory.

The salary range for this position is $83,080 - $127,945 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications Experience
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; NOTE - Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education
  • Four or more years of commercial, multi-line, P&C marketing and underwriting experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the independent agency system, specifically the P&C marketplace
  • Superior underwriting technical experience
  • Experience developing new accounts in the Texas market preferred
  • Valid Driver’s license
Preferred
  • Industry designations, such as CIC, CPCU or other designations are desired but not required.
