Overview

INTERNSHIP - Newsroom. The Pantagraph, located in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, is seeking a creative, motivated student journalist for a 10-week paid internship this summer.

We want our interns to walk away with a rewarding, real-world newsroom experience, a collection of great articles and the skills they need to develop into the next generation of journalists.

• As a general assignment intern, you’ll write news stories, cover local events and have the chance to help with breaking news.
• Collaboration is essential to our work, and you’ll spend the summer working alongside our team of reporters and editors, gaining invaluable experience.
• Interns should feel empowered to find and pitch great stories about our increasingly diverse communities and juggle multiple assignments while embracing all facets of multimedia storytelling.

• Candidates should be enrolled in college and working toward a journalism degree OR be a recent college graduate. Experience at a college newspaper is strongly preferred.
• Must be able to write clearly and concisely, translate complicated information into stories of broad interest, and represent the newspaper with tact and professionalism. Excellent spelling and grammar skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively are required.
• Must have access to a vehicle.
• The internship will be full-time, June through August. Times and days of work vary but may include evenings and weekends.
