Marklund in Bloomingdale is hiring a full‑time School Nurse (RN or LPN) at the Marklund Day School in Bloomingdale, IL. The School Nurse addresses the health needs of students and coordinates with staff, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies to provide a comprehensive school health program that facilitates the appropriate educational opportunity for students.
Hours:
8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday–Friday. Hourly rate range: $29.25–$34.00 for LPN and $31.25–$36.00 for RN based on qualifications and experience.
Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With two residential locations – the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin – it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day School offers Multi‑Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
In addition, our Community Day Services program at each site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklund and those who come in from the community.
With a recently opened 12,000‑square‑foot state‑of‑the‑art building addition in Bloomingdale, Marklund’s Day School is a well‑known and respected nonpublic school serving students ages Pre‑K‑22 who come to our school’s program through partnerships with various Chicago suburban school districts.
Marklund Day School provides an environment conducive to learning through a specialized curriculum, positive behavioral interventions, and individualized student support. Our highly sensory‑driven program features physical and occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, art and music therapy, Snoezelen therapy, computer‑adapted technology, community programs and opportunities, recreational therapy, aquatic therapy and more.
Job Responsibilities- Administers medications
- Administers tube feedings and treatments as prescribed
- Prepares annual health history as needed for students
- Attends student IDT and IEP meetings as needed
- Completes daily documentation as required
- Registered Nurse (BSN), current on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry
- Current BLS CPR certification for Healthcare Workers
- Proficient first aid skills
- IDPH certification to perform annual vision screening preferred
- Prior nursing experience in a school setting desired
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and meet its functional and environmental requirements
