Overview
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating 2-spindle CNC machines to produce precision parts according to blueprints and work orders. This role requires advanced machining knowledge, strong measurement skills, and the ability to ensure parts meet quality and specification standards while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate 2-spindle CNC machines according to setup sheets and work orders
- Review blueprints and job documentation to determine finished part specifications
- Load CNC programs and set tool length offsets
- Install and preset tooling, inserts, collets, and spindle liners
- Adjust offsets, change tools, and replace inserts as needed
- Load bar stock and raw materials into machines
- Run production parts once setup is complete
- Measure parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance
- Perform visual inspections to identify defects or non-conforming parts
- Segregate and move non-conforming parts to designated scrap bins
- Enter required data into SPC systems
- Complete in-process inspection and production log sheets
- Log in and out of the Vantage system accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 3–5 years of CNC machining experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to measure parts accurately
- Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation skills
- Advanced computer skills
- Basic math and reading skills
- Knowledge of CNC tooling, tool layouts, and inserts
- Knowledge of gages and inspection methods
- Proficiency using the following measuring equipment:
- 0–1” micrometers
- Depth micrometers
- Comparators
- Drop indicators
- Dial and plug gages
- Profilometers
- Height gages
- Ability to follow and interpret setup sheets
- Ability to adjust and change spindle liners
- Working knowledge of SPC and Vantage systems
- Strong safety awareness and compliance
