Applications Engineer

Responsible for processing, tool layouts, and programming of CNC multi-axis machines. Including:

• Proposals:
  Create proposal for new parts from customer print, indicating appropriate machine tool, material, cycle time/parts per hour, tooling cost, subsequent operations, and outside services needed.
• Documentation, tool layout, and offset print:
  Create tool layout sheet specifying all tooling and hardware needed to setup a specific job in a specific machine tool.
• C.N.C. programming, process engineering:
  Create machining process, including sequence of operations, machine tool selection, cutting tool selection, work holding selection, and appropriate machining processes.
• Train personnel on machine setup, machine operation, and machine repair for all Index and C.N.C. department machinery.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Monitor and improve cycle time and process capability on all C.N.C. machines.
• Perform machine setups when department is behind or when setup person is absent.
• Corrective action and problem solving:
  Attend corrective action meetings with quality control to provide technical solutions to process inefficiencies and quality concerns.
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery:
  Seek advice from machine manufacturer when unable to resolve issues ourselves, and locate and secure most economical replacement components needed for machine repair.
• Manufacture repair and replacement parts for machine tools.

Requirements:

• At least 3-5 years of machine programming experience
• Knowledge of machining processing and CNC machines
• Knowledge of blue print reading, GDT, inspection equipment, and tooling
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
