The Accounting Manager – Purchase Accounting will lead all accounting activities related to acquisitions, integrations, and complex manufacturing transactions for a large, multi-entity organization. This role partners closely with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Operations, M&A, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP. This is a highly visible role supporting a fast-growing enterprise environment with significant operational scale and complexity.
Responsibilities- Purchase Accounting & M&A
- Lead end-to-end purchase accounting for acquisitions in accordance with ASC 805
- Perform and review fair value assessments for acquired assets and liabilities (inventory, PP&E, intangibles, goodwill, earnouts, contingent consideration)
- Prepare acquisition accounting memos and technical documentation for management and auditors
- Partner with valuation specialists and external advisors
- Oversee opening balance sheet preparation and post-acquisition integration accounting
- Manufacturing & Operations Accounting
- Oversee accounting for inventory, cost of goods sold, standard costing, overhead absorption, and variances
- Support manufacturing operations with analysis of plant performance, margin drivers, inventory reserves, excess & obsolete
- Ensure accurate accounting for fixed assets, capital projects, depreciation, and impairment
- Partner with plant controllers and operations leadership
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned entities
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet fluctuations
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal policies, and SOX controls
- Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, controls, and systems
- Support ERP enhancements and integrations following acquisitions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong background in purchase accounting and M&A
- Experience in large-scale manufacturing environment ($500M+ revenue)
- Expert knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 805, 606, 360, 350, 330, etc.)
- Deep understanding of manufacturing accounting: standard costing, inventory, overhead, variances
- Experience with multi-entity, complex operations
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Dynamics, or similar)
- Strong communication and executive-level presentation skills
- Proven ability to manage and develop teams
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Excellent business partnering mindset with operations and senior leadership
