Dental Hygiene Assistant
Location: Sundance Dental Care of Bloomfield
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 5:00pm | Occasional Fridays
We are seeking a motivated Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our dedicated dental team. As an essential part of our practice, you will play a key role in creating a smooth and comfortable environment for our patients, ensuring high-quality care while supporting the hygienist in both clinical and administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Comfort:
Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have. - Assist with Procedures :
Set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental hygiene procedures. Assist the hygienist and ensure the dental room is well-prepared for each procedure. - Instrument Sterilization & Safety:
Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure that all dental instruments are sanitized in compliance with health regulations. - Lab Tasks & Post-Operative Care:
Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide patients with post-operative care instructions. - Record Maintenance :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, assisting with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures. - Scheduling & Office Support:
Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring the office runs smoothly with minimal disruptions. Keep the dental room clean, organized, and well-stocked. - Regulated Tasks :
Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience Level :
Open - Certification :
Additional Dental Assistant certifications or Radiology Certifications are a plus, but not required. - Skills & Knowledge:
* In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols is a plus, but not required.
* Familiarity with dental procedures and treatments is a plus, but not required.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office is a plus, but not required.
* Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is preferred. - Clinical Competence :
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures. - Communication & Patient Care:
Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort. - Organization & Attention to Detail:
Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. - Team-Oriented :
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high-quality patient care.
