About The Role

The Vet Technician plays a critical role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical care to animals in a clinical setting. This position involves performing a variety of technical tasks such as collecting samples, administering medications, and assisting during surgeries to ensure the well-being and recovery of animal patients. The Vet Technician also educates pet owners on proper animal care, treatment plans, and preventive health measures, fostering a compassionate and informative environment.

Attention to detail and strong observational skills are essential to monitor animal health and respond promptly to any changes. Ultimately, the Vet Technician contributes significantly to the overall success of the veterinary practice by combining technical expertise with empathetic client communication and animal handling skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical procedures.
  • Experience in handling and restraining animals safely and humanely.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with veterinarians, staff, and pet owners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to support clinic operations.
Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures to ensure efficient and safe treatment of animals.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and tissue for diagnostic testing.
  • Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals before, during, and after procedures to detect any abnormalities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments, equipment, and treatment areas to uphold health and safety standards.
  • Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, nutrition, and preventive health practices to promote animal wellness.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and assist with ordering to ensure the clinic is well-stocked.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all animal patients in compliance with regulatory requirements.
