Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to serve as a technical advisor on transportation projects for our New York Metro Transportation group including NYC, Bloomfield, NJ and Piscataway, NJ office locations.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Prepare technical reports, specifications and construction documents.
* Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impacts on design and construction.
* Provide guidance to entry level Engineers.
* Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
* Independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
* Prepare subsurface exploration programs, laboratory assignments and preparing geotechnical reports.
* Perform geotechnical investigations and construction inspections.
* Lead/manage geotechnical engineering investigations.
* Perform pile analysis, slope stability, settlement analysis, ground improvements and seepage analysis.
* Utilize computer software programs, such as: APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SEEPW, SLOPEW and GRLWEAP.
* Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and construction documents.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural engineers, architects, and environmental specialists.
* Develop and implement quality control procedures for geotechnical projects.
* Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and findings.
* Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
* Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to team members.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or related plus four years of related experience and/or education or demonstrated equivalent.
* Valid US Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
* NY and NJ PE highly preferred or ability to obtain within a year.
* Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
* 5 years of related work experience preferable.
* Experience with NYSDOT, and NJDOT.
* Ability to lead/manage geotechnical engineering investigations.
* Ability to perform construction inspection on foundation elements.
* Experience with pile Analysis , Slope Stability and seepage analysis.
* Experience with computer software programs such as APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SEEPW, SLOPEW and GRLWEAP prepare geotechnical engineering reports and construction documents.
* Ability to prepare geotechnical engineering reports and construction.
