Job TitleMaintenance Technician – Night Shift
ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair.
Duties include:
- Troubleshooting and repairing all production equipment, including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
- Maintaining facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis units, and other water filtration equipment.
- Collaborating with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues during shifts.
- Proposing solutions to complex and recurring problems on production equipment to senior mechanics and management.
- Repairing equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other plant equipment.
- Modifying, lubricating, diagnosing, and operating equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
- Maintaining industrial control systems.
- Completing required work order paperwork, documenting parts and material usage, and reporting repairs throughout the shift.
- Understanding and following plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
- Using personal protective equipment as required.
- Maintaining regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
- Filling in for production operators as needed.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 Years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
- 4 Years of experience in a similar maintenance position.
- 4 Years of experience managing people or projects.
- Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
- Skilled in using shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinders, drill presses, mills and lathes, and assorted power tools.
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
- Willingness to act as a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center.
- Must have own toolbox and basic tools.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 Years of experience in a field or similar manufacturing environment.
- 6 Years of experience in a similar maintenance position.
- 6 Years of experience managing people or projects.
- Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), servo drives, and servo motors.
- Experience with rotary equipment such as rotary presses or fillers.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
- Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment.
- Experience with HVAC, chillers, and/or air compressors.
- Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
- Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
- Skilled working with electrical systems including 480 VAC and 24 VDC power.
- Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams.
- Skilled in repairing VFDs, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (ASi‑bus, CAN‑bus, Profi‑bus, Ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.
