Position: Sr Machinist V (2nd Shift)
Kamatics is seeking a Machinist V who is a highly skilled CNC machinist responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing complex machining operations with minimal supervision. This role demonstrates advanced technical expertise, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and serves as a resource to other machinists. The Machinist V maintains effectiveness in a dynamic manufacturing environment, embraces new processes, and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.

Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:15 PM - 12:45 AM, Monday-Friday. One hour of mandatory daily overtime currently required

Job Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced CNC machines (5-axis preferred) to perform complex machining operations on a diverse range of components requiring close tolerances and high-quality finishes
  • Work from programs, operation sheets, blueprints, and setup instructions to execute precision machining processes
  • Perform full machine setups independently, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, and program verification
  • Validate and prove out programs; make adjustments to optimize performance, quality, and cycle times
  • Perform advanced machining operations including drilling, boring, milling, turning, honing, and related processes
  • Ensure proper material clamping, machine adjustments, and console settings to maintain part accuracy and repeatability
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications and GD&T requirements
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to other machinists as needed (setups, troubleshooting, best practices)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve overall quality
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and business needs
Education
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Machining or technical training certificate preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced experience with multi-axis CNC machines (5-axis strongly preferred)
  • Experience working with tight tolerances and complex geometries
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, including runout, concentricity, and parallelism
  • Proficient in shop math and precision measurement tools
  • Advanced knowledge of machining techniques, including tool setup, fixture alignment (tramming), and cutting methods
  • Experience with CNC machine operations including dry runs, offsets (geometry and wear), MDI functions, and G-code fundamentals
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and make sound technical decisions
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to train and support junior machinists

  • Frequent use of hands to grasp tools and materials
  • Occasional lifting and moving of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment including noise, fumes, metal chips, and coolant
