As the Mammography Technologist
, you'll be responsible for producing and evaluating screening and diagnostic mammography and general X-ray images in accordance with physician orders. This position requires expert-level proficiency with JR X-Ray and Mammography equipment and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Performs diagnostic general X-ray, mammography, fluoroscopy, and bone densitometry examinations while consistently maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and productivity.
- Operates imaging equipment and associated computer systems, including Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), with proficiency.
- Reviews imaging requisitions to determine appropriate studies; obtains patient medical histories; prepares and positions patients for examinations; evaluates images for quality and abnormalities; completes required documentation; performs quality control (QC) and patient testing according to established protocols; and works collaboratively with the Radiologist.
- Delivers exceptional patient care by clearly explaining procedures to reduce anxiety and encourage cooperation. Tracks patients from exam initiation through discharge, ensuring stat exams are processed promptly, and assesses patient conditions while assisting the Radiologist with medications or supplies as needed.
- Manages non-technical components of imaging protocols, including verifying patient preparedness (e.g., blood work, allergies, contraindications), monitoring and obtaining missing requisitions, coordinating with referring provider offices, ensuring requisitions are complete and accurate, confirming correct exam scheduling, and collaborating with customer care teams to resolve scheduling issues when necessary.
- Maintains adequate supply levels and ensures scan rooms and dressing areas remain clean, organized, and properly prepared.

- Connecticut State Radiologic License (Required)
- ARRT Certification (Required)
- CPR (BLS) Certification (Required)
- ARRT Mammography Certification, preferred
- Candidates without their mammography certification will be expected to obtain the certification within 12 months from date of hire or 6 months from becoming board eligible.
- Bachelor's degree in science-related field and experience and training in Bone Densitometry, preferred
- Experience with radiology information systems preferred
