Summary / Objective

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling large and intricate machines and components by following engineering blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions. This role is essential in ensuring that assemblies meet Viking's rigorous safety, quality, and performance standards - standards our customers have trusted for over 50 years.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, following all safety protocols and communicating concerns promptly.
  • Assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components using blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Communicate needed changes or modifications to ensure equipment is assembled correctly; identify and report non‑conformities.
  • Test and inspect assemblies to confirm functionality and verify that builds meet specifications before moving into system testing.
  • Troubleshoot and correct issues that arise during assembly or testing.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members within the assembly department to support accurate, efficient production.
  • Perform daily tasks in accordance with Viking's documented quality procedures and work instructions.
Required Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow basic work instructions.
  • Basic math skills, including comfort with fractions.
  • 1+ year of experience in a related mechanical assembly or manufacturing role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret engineering blueprints and schematics.
  • Basic understanding of at least one of the following: mechanical assembly, pneumatics, or hydraulics.
  • Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented; maintains high standards of accuracy.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and gantry cranes.
  • Capable of working with limited supervision while upholding Viking's quality expectations.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Two‑year technical degree in Automation & Manufacturing Technology or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a related assembly environment.
Pay and benefits

This is a full-time non-exempt position. This position regularly requires overtime hours as needed.

Starting pay for this position is $25-28 per hour and is highly dependent on applicable experience and skills. This is the targeted range for new hires, but over time, there's potential to earn more as you grow in the role and gain experience, skills, and tenure.
