Position Description

The Anoka County Human Services Division has current vacancies for the position of Child Support Officer in the Economic Assistance department. Anoka County Child Support Officers provide case management services to parents and caretakers by enforcing court orders pertaining to child support, medical support, and childcare support, while helping families maintain or achieve self-sufficiency. Primary case management tasks include monitoring cases for compliance with court orders, collecting payments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining case records.

Child Support Officers also work closely with the Anoka County Attorney’s Office in initiating appropriate legal actions and completing legal documents. This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place the week of March 15th for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

  • Salary: $57,262.40 to $67,288.00 ($27.53 to $32.35)
  • Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 30: $57,262.40 to $77,292.80 ($27.53 to $37.16)
  • 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays.

Work Location
  • This position will work primarily at the Blaine Human Services Center, 1201 89th AV NE, Blaine with occasional work being done at the Anoka County Government Center.
  • This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including a hybrid work environment, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
  • Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Child Support Officer:

  • Manage caseload to ensure the collection of child support is in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct client interviews, gather information, decide appropriate legal action and open new case files. Compile and review evidence prior to legal action. Secure and maintain all necessary forms.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to initiate legal action.
  • Initiate contact with absent parent(s) and respond to lack of cooperation by obligee, obligor and employers.
  • Perform ongoing case management including maintaining information in electronic databases. Update information, correct inaccuracies, and document case activities or related correspondence in case files.
  • Monitor and enforce court orders for the collection of child support.
  • Complete locate activities for case participants and employers.
  • Participate in court proceedings, including preparing case documentation, financial calculations and testimony.
  • Educate and inform the public and clients about child support services.
  • Provide customer service over the phone and in person.
Qualifications and Requirements Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Two years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience in case management, client interviews, policy interpretation, or compliance enforcement in human services or legal environments.
  • Successfully pass driver’s license background check
