Overview
The first level of the Patrol/Investigation Series is responsible for responding to citizens’ complaints and assists licensed police officers upon request. Responsibilities may include animal control; parking control; enforcing city ordinances; and providing security at local schools. This is a non-sworn, non-union uniformed position working up to eight hours per day, maximum 56 hours in a two-week pay period, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
All provisions of the Personnel Code shall apply.
This is a developmental program designed to give students in the law enforcement educational program working exposure in a police department environment.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduation or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Enrollment in an approved law enforcement curriculum.
- One year of experience in police-related work, such as Police Reserve program, Police Explorer program, or Police Cadet program.
- One year of work experience involving public contact or customer service.
- First Responder certification.
