Position Purpose
As a Perioperative Nurse at City Fertility, you will play a critical role in providing safe, high‑quality, and compassionate care to patients undergoing fertility‑related procedures within our Day Hospital environment. You will support patients at vulnerable moments of their fertility journey, ensuring they feel respected, reassured, and clinically supported from admission through to recovery. Guided by City Fertility’s values—Compassion, Respect, Commitment, Quality and Communication—you will collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence‑based perioperative care across anaesthetic, instrument, circulating and recovery nursing.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver safe, evidence‑based perioperative nursing care across anaesthetic, instrument, circulating and recovery functions
- Advocate for patients by maintaining dignity, privacy and informed consent
- Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons and recovery teams to ensure accurate clinical handovers
- Prepare and maintain operating lists, equipment and consumables to support efficient procedures
- Apply infection prevention and control principles and aseptic technique
- Conduct and document surgical safety checks, counts, specimen handling and team time‑outs
- Assist anaesthetists with safe preparation, administration and monitoring of anaesthesia, sedation and analgesia
- Monitor patients for signs of deterioration and escalates promptly
- Maintain accurate documentation and observations to support clinical decision‑making
- Support recovery and discharge processes using sound clinical judgement
- Participate in audits, quality improvement, equipment checks and incident reporting
- Maintain competence in emergency procedures including airway management and resuscitation
- Contribute to team communication, service improvement and education
- Participate in mandatory training and maintain clinical competency
- Positively contribute to a respectful, supportive and high‑performing team culture
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
- Minimum two years’ perioperative nursing experience in theatre or day surgery
- Strong commitment to compassionate, patient‑centred care
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
