UGP is seeking a dynamic Sales Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Availability outside regular business hours may be required, ensuring excellent customer support and the ability to close deals promptly.

This position is in person, reporting to the Regional Manager and working out of our retail location in Blacksburg, VA. It is a fixed work schedule with coordination with the direct manager and/or team members for urgent matters, including outside of regular work hours.

Reporting relationships: the position reports to the Regional Manager; store and sales associates and teams report to this position as relevant to the processes.

National Sales Manager.

Specific responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Promote UGP core values: show up, work hard, be respectful and honest, strive for excellence, do what you say, and promote DEI.
  • Convert quotes to leads and sales;
    Marketing drives quotes, Sales Managers interact with quotes and convert to orders.
  • Communicate sales, store and personnel information to the regional manager in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to the Digital Code of Conduct.
  • Provide constructive feedback to effect change and participate in improvements.
  • Participate in weekly 1-on-1 meetings with the Regional Sales Manager and weekly L10 with the RSM and other sales managers.
  • Assist in coverage when other UGP team members are unavailable (email/phone; travel to other UGP locations as needed).
  • Take care of customers to ensure the best experience and outcome.
  • Engage with local community and attend events (e.g., Downtown Association meetings, networking groups, chamber of commerce).
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person to determine needs and preferences.
  • Contribute ideas for sales and marketing tools to the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Coordinate with the National Sales Manager and Head of Marketing to engage with customers and drive sales at events and local opportunities.
Location
  • Store opening/closing per checklists and store hours.
  • Handle deposits for custom and retail per procedures, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Interview, hire, train, direct, and evaluate Store Associates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming storefront; ensure products are easy to find and clearly marked.
  • Ensure the store is open for scheduled hours and special events; manage SA store hours and call-offs/no-shows/shift changes.
  • Coordinate retail displays to optimize sales; ensure racks and cubbies are full and organized.
  • Manage supervisory tasks including time card approvals, annual reviews, disciplinary actions, and time-off requests for SAs.
  • Manage/store operations during major retail event days (e.g., home football weekends, graduations, large events).

An ideal candidate would enjoy the customer-salesperson relationship, the challenge of generating own sales, and the local market environment.

This is a full-time, salaried position with a sales performance bonus, paid time off and paid holidays. Full-time team members are eligible for a 401(k) plan with employer 4% matching and a 40% employee discount.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Previous sales experience.
  • Strong typing speed and accuracy.
  • Highly organized.
  • Proficient with Gmail and cloud-based tools; familiar with social media.
  • Prior management experience is preferred.
