Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Schiffert Health Center team in Blacksburg, VA to support student health services in a higher education setting.

You’ll join Schiffert Health Center, a department focused on the health and wellbeing of the student population, caring for them during illness or injury. You’ll report to the Nurse Supervisor on a regular twelve-month, 100% university staff appointment.

• Triaging patients, assisting providers, and providing patient education.
• Cross-training and working in Gynecology, Allergy/Immunization Clinic, and Medical Clinic.
• Typically work Monday – Friday 8am–5pm with rotating Saturdays 9am–12pm.

• Required Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice nursing as an LPN in the State of Virginia.
  • Previous experience practicing as an LPN in a medical setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with patient assessment/triage.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with diverse, multicultural student and staff populations while demonstrating empathy to patients.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an outpatient clinical setting.
  • Previous experience in a higher education medical/clinical environment.
  • Computer experience including electronic medical records.
  • Previous experience working in a women's clinic, allergy/immunization clinic, and/or medical clinic.

• Work Schedule Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with rotating Saturdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
