Direct Support Professional
Neuro Restorative, a part of the Sevita family, provides rehabilitation services for people of all ages with brain, spinal cord, and medically complex injuries, illnesses, and other challenges. In a variety of locations and community‑based settings, we offer a range of programs, including vocational and therapy programs, day treatments, and specialized services for infants, children, adolescents, Military Service Members, and Veterans.
Position
- Part‑time: weekdays and every other weekend (7:00 am–3:30 pm)
- Base hourly rate starting at $14.00 per hour
- Location:
Various community‑based sites
Essential Job Functions
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.
- Personnel
- Attend orientation and ongoing training; participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Work scheduled hours, arrive on time, stay until replacement arrives, and notify supervisor if unable to work.
- Assist with other shifts as required while avoiding unapproved overtime.
- Collaborate respectfully with team members.
- Comply with safety policies and report work‑related injuries.
- Services and Supports
- Provide direct support in accordance with service or program plans, including assistance with daily living activities, socialization, behavioral development, and transportation.
- Accurately document progress, review records, and maintain confidentiality while completing billing documentation as applicable.
- Assist with money management and ensure safety of individuals’ funds and property.
- Maintain professional relationships with individuals, families, and case managers.
- Report abuse, neglect, or other incidents per internal and external standards.
- Promote confidentiality, uphold individuals’ rights, practice universal precautions, and assist with exercising rights.
- Health Care
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments and relay orders to providers.
- Administer medications and treatments when assigned, report errors, and secure controlled substances.
- Monitor health, document concerns, and communicate with nurse or supervisor; call 911 in emergencies.
- Follow procedures for medical equipment, report malfunctions, and maintain dietary plans.
- Maintenance
- Transport individuals safely, ensuring seat belts, lifts, and wheelchair ties are used correctly.
- Perform daily and seasonal housekeeping; report hazards or safety concerns.
- Conduct minor repairs, yard maintenance, and snow removal; notify supervisor of needed repairs.
- Check water temperature during bathing and participate in safety drills.
- Perform other related duties and activities as required.
Employee may, from time to time, need to use a personal cell phone for business purposes and will receive a stipend to cover the costs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required). Six months of experience in human services preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing; car registration and insurance if providing transportation.
- All state‑required training and certification completed within mandated time frames.
- Travel required as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Exert up to 100 lb of force occasionally, up to 50 lb frequently, and up to 20 lb constantly to move objects.
