Associate/Full Professor of Building Construction
The Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech is seeking applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor of Building Construction with expertise in building systems, building physics, and/or building performance.
The position is effective August 2026. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied research that aligns with recent initiatives at Virginia Tech, including a campus-wide, multi-disciplinary focus on Industrialized Construction as well as a focus on Smart Construction.
Research foci may include:
- Building system(s) integration, including system design, construction, and commissioning methods
- Building physics modeling, simulation, and in-situ assessment
- Building performance evaluations of embodied-carbon, energy performance, durability, and life-cycle analysis
- Human interactions with the built environment, including Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) and Human-building Interaction (HBI)
The School is currently home to 30 faculty members and over 600 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The School offers degrees in Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Management, Master of Science in Building Construction Science and Management, and Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Design and Planning.
Responsibilities and QualificationsRequired qualifications include a doctoral degree in construction or a closely related discipline, a successful teaching record, a strong record of publications and externally-funded research, and national/international recognition as an expert in their field.
