The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a full‑time, academic‑year, non‑tenure‑track Collegiate Faculty member who will primarily contribute to the ECE undergraduate program’s teaching mission. The role is posted for an assistant, associate, or full collegiate professor position with a 3-, 5‑ or 7‑year renewable contract and competitive salary.
Primary responsibilities (80% of workload):
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical and computer engineering.
- Mentor students and support their academic and professional development.
- Participate in the development and assessment of academic programs.
Secondaries (20% of workload):
- Conduct scholarship of teaching and learning or disciplinary research and present findings in professional venues.
- Engage in department, college, and university service and committee work.
Candidates with expertise across all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered. Background in teaching and developing courses in engineering problem solving and design is preferred, and industry experience is encouraged.

Required Qualifications- Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related field completed prior to employment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Previous teaching experience in ECE or related field.
- Strong record of academic accomplishments.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively.
- Experience with and commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction.
- Willingness to cross disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal challenges.
- Interest or experience working effectively with a diverse student population.
- Relevant industrial experience and academic experience teaching in Power Systems, Electric Machines, and Power Electronics.
- Willingness and ability to work in a high‑tech environment, including online instruction and distance learning.
- Experience collaborating with industry and facilitating student project funding.
- Overtime Status:
Exempt – not eligible for overtime. - Appointment Type:
Regular. - Salary:
