Academic Compliance Specialist

Job Description

The Office of the University Registrar is looking for an individual to join our team as an Academic Compliance Specialist. As a member of our team this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and compliance of academic records and federal reporting functions within the Office of the University Registrar.

• You will be joining the Office of the University Registrar: a department dedicated to assisting students in navigating their academic journey at Virginia Tech from admission to beyond graduation.
• You will report directly to the Assistant Registrar for Academic Athletic Transfer & Eligibility. This position is a regular, calendar-year staff appointment.
• Your primary responsibilities will encompass validating athletic academic eligibility, supporting the degree conferral process, and conducting enrollment and degree federal reporting. The position also coordinates diploma production and distribution processes.
• You will have the chance to expand your knowledge of the university and pursue career advancement within the Office of the University Registrar.
• The salary of this position is commensurate with experience up to an expected budget max of $45,000 - $50,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, and retirement options.

• Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
• Strong computer skills to include data entry
• Knowledge of programs and office applications

• Demonstrated data analysis experience

• Experience in analyzing data and drawing conclusions
• Advanced computer experience including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and word
• Experience with large‑scale relational databases
• Knowledge of university degree requirements and academic eligibility policies
• Experience working with academic requirements, degree audits, academic records
• Prior reconciliation and proofreading experience
