Salary:
Maintenance Service Worker 1 (MSW1) – Park Maintenance Worker:
$23.11 - $26.00 per hour
Maintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) – Park Maintenance Crew Lead:
$26.18 - $32.08 per hour
In addition to regular wages, regular wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
- 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings

Cooking Lake – Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, located near Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Role ResponsibilitiesIf you enjoy working outside and are committed to improving a visitor’s experience when they visit a provincial park by maintaining clean facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Team at Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area.
We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Park Maintenance Workers for the 2026 summer season. Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day-to-day operation of campgrounds, day use areas, facilities and trail systems.
We are currently looking to hire:
• 1 Park Maintenance Crew Lead
• 3 Park Maintenance Workers
As a Park Maintenance Service Worker (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performing landscaping, building cleaning and site servicing of campgrounds, day use areas and facilities.
- Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.
- Operating equipment such as mowers, trimmers, UTVs, side by sides, etc.
- Assisting with trail maintenance.
- Installing and maintaining signage.
- Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly.
- Assisting with hazard tree management and invasive plant management programs.
- Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions, as needed.
- Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols; and with the Facility Emergency Response Plan and protocols.
- Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses.
As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting with and performing (MSW1) duties in addition to some front-line administrative and supervisory tasks such as:
- Providing direct supervision, leadership and guidance to Maintenance Service Workers.
- Coordinating and documenting routine and preventative maintenance on all infrastructure in the Provincial Recreation Areas (PRA).
- Coordinating trail maintenance projects.
- Maintains roads and parking lot areas.
- Operates heavy equipment (such as loaders, graders, groomers, garbage trucks, etc.).
- Responsible for reporting back to Supervisor on completed tasks.
