Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Charge Registered Nurse to join our 20‑bed Medical/Surgical unit. The Charge RN plays a key leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for coordinating daily unit operations, supporting clinical staff, facilitating patient flow, and serving as a resource and role model for nursing excellence.

Responsibilities

* Provide leadership and supervision to Med Surg nursing staff during assigned shift.

* Coordinate patient assignments, admissions, discharges, and transfers to maintain optimal unit flow.

* Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, assisting with problem-solving and decision-making.

* Support staff in delivering evidence-based, patient‑centered care.

* Monitor and ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and documentation requirements.

* Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and unit efficiency.

* Participate in staff development, mentoring, and promoting a positive work environment.

* Escalate operational or clinical concerns to leadership when needed.

Required Qualifications

* Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

* Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.

* Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.

* Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with a diverse clinical team.

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous charge nurse, preceptor, or other formal/informal leadership experience.
