Job Summary
The Storage Operator supports all potato receiving and storage operations. This role is responsible for maintaining proper storage conditions, assisting with harvest logistics, ensuring food safety compliance, managing inventory reporting, and promoting a safe work environment aligned with company values and operational standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and maintain proper potato storage conditions by checking and recording temperature, humidity, and overall storage operations; troubleshoot and correct improper storage parameters.
Prepare and set up potato storage facilities to receive product; support unloading operations and monitor slab and storage inventory levels.
Perform grounds and building maintenance related to potato storage areas, including drainage and dirt management.
Maintain required audit documentation and records (GAP, SQF, GMP, etc.) and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Support harvest operations by coordinating with Human Resources to schedule and train harvest crews, ensuring safe working conditions and best storage practices.
Provide raw material logistics support when the Senior Field Representative is unavailable.
Operate equipment such as forklifts, Genie lifts, tractors, front-end loaders, and qualified 10-wheel dump trucks as needed.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
1–3 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
GAP training required
Demonstrated leadership ability
Knowledge & Skills
Working knowledge of inventory systems, spreadsheets, word processing, internet, and email software
Welding experience required
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Strong verbal communication skills
Basic math skills including rates, ratios, and percentages
Ability to solve practical problems and follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions
Forklift and Genie lift certification required
Ability to operate a tractor, front-end loader, and qualify to operate a 10-wheel dump truck (up to 50,000 lbs.)
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, and reach
Frequently required to taste or smell
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Regular exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outdoor weather conditions
Occasional exposure to heights, airborne particles, chemicals, and electrical risks
Moderate noise levels
Employees are responsible for maintaining a safe workplace by complying with all federal and state regulations and company policies. This includes completing behavior-based safety observations, correcting unsafe conditions promptly, and supporting SQF food safety standards.
