Traveling Craftsman​/Welder

Overview

Traveling Craftsman/Welder will work on diverse projects at multiple locations throughout the United States and must be able to adapt to different working environments while ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.

• Travel to designated job sites, which may vary in location and duration. Accommodations and travel expenses will be provided.
• Install, dismantle or move machines/processes, structural components, or mechanical mechanisms at customer facilities, according to layout plans, blueprints or other drawings.
• Perform millwright work with some degree of proficiency.
• Capable of performing schedule pipe and sanitary tube welding.
• Proficient in welding the following: GMAW, GTAW, FCAW.
• Basic understanding of weld quality control, welding code standards and specifications, non-destructive examination and radiography (x-ray testing of welds).
• Lay out and fabricate stairs and handrails.
• Fabricate, repair, and maintain sheet metal items.
• Communicate job progress, issues, and solutions effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and site personnel, providing high-quality work and excellent customer service to foster positive working relationships and repeat business.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Craft I:
  High School Diploma or GED and one (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Craft II:
  Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and three (3) to six (6) years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Craft III:
  Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and five (5) to ten (10) years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience reading blueprints.

• Frequent travel and overtime are required, with potential overnight stays or extended assignments at remote locations. Expect 50%-75% travel.

Must be able to pass weld tests in accordance with AWS and ASME codes.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment; must have flexibility with an ability to focus.

• Benefits: $60 per day travel per diem and accommodations provided when working at remote locations. All travel and accommodation expenses provided.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to fly or drive long distances. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The job may require climbing ladders/stairs. The employee will lift heavy pieces of metal, work with arms overhead, twist torso, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear.

The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods; the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly up to 50 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds. Vision requirements noted.

Exposed to moving mechanical parts, loud noises, tripping hazards, sparks, welding arc, and open flame. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, mild industrial chemicals, inclement weather, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually loud.
