Overview
We are seeking a Production Engineer to join our plastics manufacturing business in a newly created role. This position is ideal for a Manufacturing Engineer with strong continuous improvement experience who is looking to make a direct impact within a growing organisation.
The successful candidate will optimise manufacturing processes by designing, implementing, and monitoring production systems to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. The role will focus heavily on continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities
Optimise and improve manufacturing processes within a plastics environment
Implement and drive Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 6S initiatives
Analyse production data to identify inefficiencies and reduce waste
Design and improve production systems and workflows
Support CAD design requirements where necessary
Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues
Manage and support maintenance of production equipment
Work cross-functionally with production, quality, and management teams
Support budget management and cost-reduction initiatives
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Background in plastics manufacturing
Experience in Manufacturing Engineering or similar role
Proven experience in Continuous Improvement environments
Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
Experience implementing Six Sigma, Kaizen, or 6S methodologies
Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills
Desirable:
CAD design experience
Experience managing production budgets
Formal Lean or Six Sigma qualification
Training & Development
Initial product knowledge training
Shadowing an experienced engineer during onboarding
Direct mentorship from the General Manager
Progression:
This role currently offers limited progression opportunities due to company structure but provides strong exposure to senior leadership and hands-on operational influence.
Department Structure
Reporting directly to the General Manager
Close collaboration with production and operations teams
