We are looking for a Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support Worker for an Ofsted rated Outstanding Pupil Referral Unit. You will be working 1:1 with students who have very complex emotional and behavioural needs. They often come from traumatic backgrounds, are disengaged with mainstream education, and may be at risk of criminal or sexual exploitation. The school supports a mixture მიწ primary and secondary aged students, some of whom are on EHCPs across two sites.
Due to the nature of the students, you must be comfortable managing emotional dysregulation, challenging behaviour, and maintaining a level of calmness when faced with aggression. This role will involve managing high levels of verbal and physical aggression.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide classroom support across core subjects
- Work 1:1 with students.
- Help adapt activities to support different learning needs
- Encourage positive participation, focus and confidence in lessons
- Support the class teacher with learning resources and routines
- Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive school environment
- Manage high levels of challenging behaviour
- Experience supporting children or young people (school, tutoring, youth work, care, coaching all welcome)
- A proactive and patient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Good communication and teamwork skills mô
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Robust and comfortable with challenging behaviour
Teaching Assistant experience is beneficial, but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates and career changers looking to start a rewarding role in education.
