Welding Trainer
Company: GP for Child's Play
Salary: £35,000 (Negotiable depending on experience)
Hours of work: Mon‑Thu 8am‑5pm;
Fri 8am‑2pm
Location: Blackburn (travel to other sites required)
Responsibilities- Coach and monitor apprentices: conduct 10‑weekly progress reviews, provide ongoing support and feedback, track wellbeing and achievement.
- Use the Learner Management System to update documentation, evidence and progress tracking.
- Deliver high‑quality welding training: practical demonstrations, skills coaching and technical knowledge sessions in line with the Level 3 Plate Welder standard.
- Assess skills, ensure apprentices produce high‑quality work, prepare for End Point Assessment by delivering mock assessments, portfolio preparation and guidance.
- Maintain compliance with apprenticeship funding rules and internal quality processes; contribute to standardisation activities and continuous improvement.
- Act as Safeguarding Officer: promote learner welfare, identify concerns, and adhere to safeguarding procedures.
- Provide training and support across Blackburn, Rotherham and Coventry; travel between sites as required.
- Build positive relationships with production managers, supervisors and teams to ensure apprentices receive high‑quality on‑the‑job training.
- Strong background in welding, ideally qualified to Level 3 or above (e.g., Plate Welding, Fabrication & Welding).
- Experience as a trainer, assessor or mentor in a welding/engineering environment.
- Understanding of apprenticeship standards, competency‑based assessment and learning support.
- Ability to organise and manage a large caseload of learners.
- Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly to multiple WEC Group sites.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, prevention duty and learner welfare (training can be provided).
- Driving licence essential.
