Sporting Goods Sales Associate

• Greet all customers on the sales floor with courtesy and a smile
• Grow personal sales by hitting minimum goals and following Scheels professional salesmanship standards to provide an above and beyond customer experience
• Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and clearly explain all benefits
• Engage in conversation with customers and assist them in making buying decisions
• Demonstrate a passion for products in our store
• Attend all Scheels product training and all store meetings
• Maintain a professional appearance on the sales floor
• Assist in all other assigned duties
• Demonstrate basic math skills, including rate, ratio and percent; read and interpret simple data
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings with customers and employees
• Demonstrate strong communication, organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Communicate clearly with all levels of the organization
• Be willing to help with freight/stocking when needed
• Demonstrate product usage and retrieve products from heights of greater than 6 ft as needed
• Must be at least 18 years old

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and/or 1–3 months of sales experience

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavy work may involve exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

• Must be flexible to work shifts between 5pm-9pm Monday through Friday, 9am-7pm Saturday and 11am-6pm Sunday
• Must be available for a minimum of two weekends per month
• Average hours per week: 20–25 hours
