Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 12-Hour Days
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekend/Holidays: Every other
Float: First to float

Unit Overview

• 32-bed Med/Tele unit with PCU-level overflow
• Patient Population:
  Adult & geriatric cardiac and medical patients
• Common Diagnoses:
  Cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, COVID (BiPAP), pneumonia, sepsis, influenza, acute on chronic conditions
• Charting System: Epic

Responsibilities

• Provide Tele/PCU-level nursing care and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Titrate cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix (low-dose Dopamine; no Levophed)
• Manage BiPAP, trachs, Airvo, and high-flow oxygen
• Float as needed to PCU (full assignment), Med/Surg, or ER holds/boarding

Staffing & Ratios

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4–5 (PCU overflow 1:3)
• Charge nurse on each shift (may carry light assignment)
• PCT support with goal ratio 1:10
• Tele monitors in-room and at nurses’ station; RNs read and interpret strips

Requirements

• PCU experience required
• Strong Tele/Cardiac RN background
• BLS & ACLS certifications required
• Active RN license required for submission
• First-time travelers accepted
