Delta Waterfowl is The Duck Hunters Organization, a leading conservation group founded in 1911. Delta’s international headquarters is located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Currently, our dedicated team consists of almost 100 employees, of which about half work within our headquarters office and the other half work remotely throughout the U.S. and Canada. Job Summary

This position will have a variety of science-based and waterfowl management responsibilities and opportunities. However, the primary focus will be on the delivery and oversight of Delta Waterfowl Hen House and Predator Management programs and activities in the Canadian Prairie Pothole Region.

Essential Functions
  • Manage operations of Delta Waterfowl’s waterfowl programs within Canadian target areas.
  • Assist with developing an annual budget for waterfowl programs.
  • Recruit and train individuals responsible for delivering Delta programs.
  • Complete project field work as needed to meet annual program objectives, including delivery of project supplies and installation and maintenance of Hen Houses.
  • Communicate with provincial and federal agencies, along with other non-profit organizations, to obtain permission and permits to deliver Delta programs.
  • Generate any necessary annual proposals and close-out reports for provincial and federal permitting agencies for required permits.
  • Use available technology (GIS) and field reconnaissance to select, map, and evaluate Delta’s waterfowl programs.
  • Represent Delta at annual meetings with permitting agencies to discuss waterfowl program research and delivery permit needs.
  • Assist the Delta science team with the determination of research needs and the development of high-quality research projects.
  • Respond to programmatic questions from Delta members and others via email, social media, and phone conversations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a natural resources field, or a bachelor’s degree in the same field coupled with professional experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft applications, including spreadsheets, internet, and computer applications.
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) software and applications are preferred.
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must have valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Must be able to operate a truck and trailer and small equipment (bobcat).
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills, excellent organizational skills, and work well as a team member.
  • Trustworthy and possessing the highest personal and professional integrity and quality standards.
  • Must be willing to incur overnight travel.
  • Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and navigate stairs. The employee must lift and move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
