Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Field/Service Technician

OverviewResponsible for the effective repair of machinery and components at high levels of quality, servicing units to fulfill OEM specifications. Must perform quality work efficiently and profitably, work overtime as needed, and may travel with overnight stays and work weekends on occasion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Builds knowledge of dealer-supported product lines, service standards, and procedures
- Performs repairs and maintenance jobs with minimal supervision
- Applies basic testing knowledge of machine systems
- Repairs and reconditions all equipment components and systems
- Develops and employs diagnostic reasoning skills
- Operates heavy construction equipment safely
- Assists in collecting data for efficient inventory control
- Attends local, regional, and national service schools as requested
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment
- Maintains and cares for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Completes all paperwork required for jobs
- Maintains close, positive relationships with service, parts, and administrative personnel
- Performs other duties as directed by the Service Manager

- Own or can acquire required tools
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record
- Currently holds Class A CDL License or willing to obtain

- Excellent customer service skills, both internally and externally
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects
- Personable, highly motivated, problem solver, reliable, ethical, and adaptable
- Solid equipment and mechanical knowledge with strong diagnostic skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision and maintain a positive mental attitude
- Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls >100 lbs. Frequently lifts 50+ lbs. Continuously lifts 20+ lbs.
- Occasional to frequent walking or standing
- Frequent and continual movement including kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, turning, bending, reaching, and handling
- Repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers
- Requires hearing and speaking to exchange information
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment
- Consistently exposed to weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise
