This position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the databases within the Knife River environment, including installation, configuration, technical development, monitoring, planning, data management, and issue resolution.
This position will also be called upon to provide insight and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems related to the Knife River's information technology strategy. Address highly complex technical issues by reviewing, analyzing, and modifying systems including encoding, testing, and debugging. Recommend technical alternatives to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Provide consultation on complex projects;
a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Bismarck, ND or in a geographic location near a Knife River location. This role has the opportunity to be on-site, remote, or hybrid depending on location.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study, a minimum of five years' experience in an Information Technology field or a combination of the two.
- Experience as a Programmer/Systems Analyst, strong technical background with Oracle databases, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, ERP systems or large software system implementations, large software development and systems integration experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Access or Visual Basic and experience with a PM package such as Microsoft Project.
- Windows based programming experience, and extensive knowledge of computer systems, LAN's, WAN's, and client server (windows based). Ability to research new technologies and determine their applicability to Knife River.
- Managing Oracle databases in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment.
- Replication software/tools such as Golden Gate.
- JDE E1 ERP data support.
- May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.

- Provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products. Work with Knife River's Business Applications teams to schedule, plan and implement IT initiatives related to Knife River's information technology strategy.
- Resolve highly complex technical issues by reviewing, analyzing, and modifying systems including encoding, testing, and debugging. Work with the Business Applications team and end-users to resolve issues and accomplish complex reporting and development tasks. Assure documentation is created to track projects, using a standard format and properly backed up and located in a standard directory structure.
- Monitor technical infrastructure, review system logs, analyze system parameters and adjust accordingly. Apply all relevant DB and OS patches and upgrades. Develop, implement, and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery systems and procedures for the Oracle databases.
- Work with KRC Business Application teams on development, implementation and monitoring of database system integrations using a variety of technologies including OBIEE, SQL, ODBC, OLEDB, VB, , C# and C++.
- Administer Oracle databases; installation, performance issues, database capacity issues and requirements, replication using Data Mirror, DB MOTO, Golden Gate, DTS packages, Linux Operating system, and other distributed data issues.
- Assist in the administration of all JDE Security access and SOX compliance for Knife River companies.
