Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include but are not limited to:

• Emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors; using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; apply to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff.
• Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment; keep storage, equipment and carts stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Use pagers and other technology as required; assist in laundry areas as appropriate; may have access to technology applications depending on location.

Physical activities include significant use of arms and legs, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, squatting, and moving materials. Ability to lift/move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull on flat surfaces or ramps. Position requires being on feet for most of shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours may vary by location and may include overtime, call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to use computer; prior cleaning experience helpful. Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
