Job SummaryThe Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services. The role requires multi‑skill proficiency and is performed under the direct supervision of licensed clinical professionals.
- Obtain height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, color vision screening, drug screens, and point‑of‑care urinalysis.
- Execute reception and clerical tasks.
- Prepare patient treatment areas and clean medical equipment.
- Dispose of biomedical waste according to standards and policy.
- Clean and maintain patient care areas or treatment rooms.
- Monitor and restock medical inventory as needed.
- Maintain patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care.
- Demonstrate self‑motivation, independence, and teamwork.
- Maintain excellent interpersonal skills amid multiple distractions.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred but not required).
- Minimum six months of experience preferred; experience in a clinic setting preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred; obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
- For North Dakota (ND) employees who are not a Certified Nursing Assistant, register as a Nursing Assistant (NA) with the ND Department of Health within four months of initial employment.
