Responsibilities- Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
- Perform tasks including emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, and using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment and apply them to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff.
- Clean locations may include patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
- Wear the proper protective equipment following appropriate guidelines. Keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Access to pagers and other technology and use appropriately when needed. Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate. Depending on location, may have access to technology applications.
- Physical activities include considerable use of arms and legs and moving of the body (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials). Ability to lift/move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull at variable weights on flat surfaces or ramps.
- Be on feet for the majority of the shift. May be exposed to certain levels of noise from equipment.
- Work hours may vary based on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
