Responsibilities- Responsible for administration of nuclear imaging procedures, calculation, diagnostic, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and adjunctive medications using a variety of equipment and strictly adhering to relevant safety standards.
- Perform quality nuclear medicine imaging examinations with advanced technical knowledge while maintaining patient care per department policy.
- Carry out hot lab duties and perform a variety of nuclear medicine studies on inpatients and outpatients across age groups (neonate to geriatric).
- Understand NRC rules and regulations, practice radiation safety, safely operate cameras and equipment, and process data to required destinations via computer.
- Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and therapeutically dosages under physician direction; use radiation-detecting equipment to perform procedures and explain procedures to patients.
- Implement radiation safety standards and quality assurance; monitor patient condition during imaging procedures; collect patient information and analyze data to provide quality images for diagnosis.
- May be cross-trained to perform PET/CT scans with understanding of all PETCT-related processes, depending on facility and department needs.
- Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and confidentiality; adapt to change and technology advancements.
- Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology is required.
- Certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required;
North Dakota MIRT board licensure required for ND practice. - PET registered is helpful.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of employment; maintain required department competencies and certifications.
