The Senior Construction Engineering Specialist performs onsite services independently on assigned projects for the transportation group. Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Thorough understanding of plans, specifications, and related contract documents as well as their application for project observation and administration
- Prepares engineering and contract documents for assigned projects
- Prepares and monitors project budgets
- Answers inquiries and complaints from residents and clients in a courteous and professional manner
- Coordinates on-site testing per the contract documents
- Verifies and documents materials prior to installation
- Obtains measurements and detailed progress information of construction activities
- Identifies potential issues and notifies Engineer or Project Manager
- Serves as the designated client contact
- Leads construction and public meetings related to the assigned projects
- Serves as Lead RPR / leading multiple projects simultaneously
- Oversees Resident Project Representatives on assigned projects
- Mentors team members
- Understands and complies with company mandated safety policies
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum associate’s degree in civil engineering or related field experience
- Minimum 12 years of experience in civil engineering or related field
- General knowledge of the construction industry
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
- Ability to perform physical work (i.e., strenuous walking, lifting 50+ pounds, manhole covers, hauling field equipment, etc.)
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work the same hours as the contractor, up to 16 hours per day when indicated
