NDDOT Starting Salary
- Engineering Technician IV: $5,587 per month*
- Engineering Technician III: $5,008 per month*
- Engineering Technician II: $4,505 per month*
- Engineering Technician I: $4,131 per month*
Responsibilities include conducting field inspections for all types of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents. You will work with Robotic Total Station GPS, drones, and computer aided drafting software such as Micro Station to measure and calculate quantities and create reports and plan sheets for use on construction projects. You will perform tests on road and bridge building materials to ensure they meet NDDOT specifications.
You will assist project engineers with checking and organizing project final records, as well as with district design work that requires the use of Micro Station. Training and support will be provided.
Minimum qualifications by level:
- Engineering Technician IV: at least six years of work experience related to the engineering technician duties listed. College-level coursework and/or degree in an engineering or related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Materials testing is preferred.
- Engineering Technician III: at least four years of work experience related to the duties listed. Coursework or degree may be substituted;
Materials testing is preferred. - Engineering Technician II: at least two years of work experience related to the duties listed. Coursework or degree may be substituted;
Materials testing is preferred. - Engineering Technician I: high school diploma or GED and a basic understanding of concepts needed for this work.
Additional requirements:
ability to work in all weather, on uneven/slippery surfaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and travel to project locations with a valid North Dakota Class D driver s license. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and strong organizational and communication skills are preferred.
